Life, Posey and Planes

I thought it was time for a Posey post   Poor thing never gets any attention!
You may have heard me mention that she really wasn’t talking much when she turned 2.
It’s not that we were worried, but you are always ready for your child to start talking.
She began speech therapy(I know it sounds crazy to send a 2 yr old to speech therapy, but it was free!)
about 6 months ago, and she has come so far!  She FINALLY started calling me mama about 3 months ago.
It was possibly the sweetest sound I’d ever heard   When she started calling for me when she woke up
in the middle of the night, this was the sweetest sound Kelly Boy had ever heard.

You may wonder where I’ve been lately.  I’m not just avoiding you guys, or trying to get out of blogging.
I’ve really been trying to re-establish balance again in my life.  I had done so well last year learning to say no, spending less time in
front of the computer, and more time doing things like cooking, going to the park, and spending time with my family.
Well, a year has passed, and I have found myself right back where I started!  Of course, it’s not just photography that’s
keeping me busy.  With the addition of Kelly Moore Bag, that has taken more time than I ever dreamed!
No regrets, of course.  I’m loving every single moment of this new adventure, but I am actively trying to find peace and balance.

It’s so easy to get sucked in to believing that a bigger better business will make you happy.
If I’ve learned anything, it’s that no amount of bags that I can sell, and no wedding image that I can take will satisfy.
This is something I have to give over to God EVERY SINGLE DAY!
I literally have to say, “Lord, this is not my business, it’s yours.”
If I don’t, it never fails, by lunchtime, I’m completely submerged in emails, still in my pajamas,
dirty hair, my kid is watching cartoons, I’m stressed out, and I’m trying to figure out how to keep up with the Jones.
This industry can be very overwhelming.
I do love this industry, but I feel like if you let it, it can become very consuming, and high school all over again!
Let’s be honest, I wasn’t cool the first time around, and it’s exhausting to think about having to do it again!
When I start to worry all these silly things, this is what I tell myself:
“No matter how well known you become in this industry, chances are, no one at your local Wal-Mart has a clue who you are.”
I’ve pasted a few verses below that help me when I feel like my head is going to explode.

Kelly Boy is a pilot, and it’s been his dream his ENTIRE life to be an crop duster.
Last summer, we had the chance to move to Arkansas for 3 months so he could fly.
We’ve decided to do this again this summer(we even just bought a plane!!)
It’s a pretty crazy thing for a photographer to take off for the summer,
but it’s one of the best things I could have done for my family and my photography.
There is nothing worse than a burned out photographer!
This break not only gives me a chance to focus on being a mom and wife,
but it also give me the opportunity to get re-inspired in my photography.
All this to say, photography is not life, business is not life, money is not life.
Don’t forget to actually live your life.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything,
by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God.  And the peace of God,
which transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”
(Philippians 4:6-7).

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy,
and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
(Matthew 6:19)

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink;
or about your body, what you will wear.  Is not life more important than food,
and the body more important than clothes?
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns,
and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not much more valuable than they?
Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
(Matthew 6:25-27)
